MHMW

IFCC units (mmol/mol)

IFCC units express A1C as millimoles of glycated haemoglobin per mole of total haemoglobin, rather than as a percentage. Laboratories in the UK, Australia and much of Europe report this instead of the NGSP percentage used in the US, Canada and India.

Example

IFCC = (NGSP% − 2.15) × 10.929, so an A1C of 6.5% is about 48 mmol/mol. The same measurement, a different scale.
