Follicular phase
The follicular phase runs from the first day of a period to ovulation. It is the variable half of the cycle, and most differences in total cycle length between people and between months happen here.
Example
A 24-day and a 35-day cycle usually differ mainly in follicular length, not in the luteal phase after ovulation.
